Local move from Brooklyn, NY to New Baltimore, NY

Great team; flexible, affordable, fair, professional

TDY did a great job on a complicated recent move hundreds of miles away from Brooklyn. It was a complicated job – – a lot of items, valuable items, heavy items, and a packed apartment. Adam came out, gave me good tips on what to focus on, and give me a fair estimate. Lots of good follow up to confirm the job.

On the day of the job, a great crew assembled on time (Mars, Guy, Jay, Diego). Super professional and polite and respectful. And when it was determined There’s another guy was needed on the team, Mars and Adam worked quickly to get one. And we’re flexible enough to allow me to borrow a couple of hours from the load off day to be used for the load in day. It’s a good indication of how flexible and understanding they were of my needs for a very stressful move.

They all really hustled and did a good job.

I had previously used another mover for a segment of this complicated project, and that firm did a lousy job (broke items) and overcharged me.

In contrast, TDY was very respectful, very professional, flexible, affordable, careful, and a really good experience. I have already recommended them to other neighbors and would use them again.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Virginia

Don't trust Angie's quotes.

I was very unhappy with the quotes from Angie. She told us one amount and when the 5 guys got here they came in a Budget Rental Truck, not big enough for our things. Angie quoted us $3200 and the guys said that it would be at least double that amount. My husband had spoken to Angie in depth about full packing, loading and delivery. She then apologized for her mishap. Unfortunately, these 5 guys drove 2 1/2 hrs to get to me for nothing, because I said I was quoted one amount and not double. They guys were very nice. Angie needs to be trained more. I would not recommend this company.

Long-distance move from New York to California

Great experience with TDY.

Overall TDY was able to move out all of our stuff from our seven story walk up in Manhattan and transport it across the country in the time frame we required. Their customer service staff were excellent in providing all the necessary documentation and updates when needed. Our items were cared for and we did not experience any problems.
We were assisted by a gentleman named Adam. He provided an assessment on the same day that we called and was able to put a team together to come grab our stuff the next day. Given our short timeline, this was excellent. If you need to move on short notice, I would highly recommend TDY.

Long-distance move from New York to Alabama

Pretty good, but communication could be better.

Cons: Despite numerous emails and phone calls telling them to contact my husband instead of me on move day (I was moving a couple weeks earlier and would be in a different time zone and obviously not in the apartment to help on the move day), they STILL called me the day before the move and again on move day.
They also had an issue with the inventory list which I had specifically clarified with the owner via email earlier to make sure they were using the correct version. They still showed up with the wrong copy and gave my husband some issues about that until I could forward the email proof that we were correct and they weren't.

Pros - despite the communication issues my husband said they were great on the actual day of the move and ended up moving quickly, efficiently, and kept their word that they wouldn't charge us extra for going over the cubic footage amount that they estimated for us.

Long-distance move from New York to Texas

Broken and missing items.

I used TDY Moving based on a recommendation from a coworker. I am sorry I used them and recommend anyone looking for movers to keep moving. My wife and I moved from NY to Texas. When we arrived in Texas we had the movers put our belongings in storage while we traveled for a few months. When we had another moving company move us out of storage to our new apartment we found 2 pieces of furniture damaged. The movers pointed out the damage as the items were being removed from storage, so I know that it happened due to TDY. I contacted TDY and was informed I could file a claim with theire insurance carrier, who reimbursed based on $0.60 per pound. TDY should have reimbursed us and taken the loss. I am sorry I used them.

Effortless & efficient.

I was moving for the 3rd time in a year and half so needless to say I was pretty much over the whole process and at the same time I decided to switch from movers I have used in the past. I was nervous because since I never used TDY before I wasn't sure what to expect but when I spoke to Adam he assured me that everything would run smoothly and it did. Adam knew all the right things to say to ease my anxieties and was extremely sympathetic to my needs. The movers were also extremely helpful and made my move run seamlessly. They showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently and truly made the stress of moving completely effortless.

Long-distance move from New York to Connecticut

Stay away.

Where do I even start. First of all, I called them with what has to be moved and the company gave me a price over the phone without seeing. First clue that I missed. I then corrected the quantity of boxes the following day and they raised the anti another $200. Fair enough. After the truck was loaded they claimed the markers on the truck floor bed indicated even more cubic feet and the price then escalated another $800. When I asked to look in the truck I was refused. Did I mention that when I called up to enquire about the driver’s billing, they added another $100 bucks because they said he made a mistake. Did I mention that I needed the items moved quickly to Chicago and when I first called they stated “your in luck” we had a cancellation and we can get you on the truck going west immediately. That was Monday and they picked up the load the next day on Tuesday afternoon where it proceeded to rest in NYC for 10 days. Yep, I was really lucky that they had a cancellation. Did I mention the conversation with the driver and his crew. The first words out of his mouth was what they expected as a tip. He said it’s customary to leave a 10-20% of the moving bill as a tip. So, since what started out at $2700 and leveling off at approx. $3800 they were expecting a tip anywhere between $380 - $$760 bucks. When I explained to him that this load of furniture was my son’s house and I didn’t have that kind of cash on me, he said I’m sure you can figure out a way to get tip money. Even suggesting I write him a check and he would split it with the crew. Finally, after they were finished loading and only when they were finished loading, and I signed off, they handed me a sheet of paper with their additional rules for the destination address in Chicago. Which included, the additional cost per foot if the crew had to walk a certain number of feet to the front door. Additional cost for landings in an apartment building. Additional cost if their truck was to big for the street and they had to unload to a smaller truck. Perhaps I should have been more curious on why they demand final payment in cash before they unload the truck. I’m chalking this up to one bad experience, with an unreputable company. They are in the same category as Aluminum siding and used car salesman. It’s going to take a long time to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Georgia

Tdy moving and Storage.

I'm not happy at all with them. I was quoted an estimated rate over the phone. the rate was predicated on the piece count, cubic feet, and of course distance/ miles. I actually shipped less than the amount I was quoted. To make a long story short, The amout I was charged was double the amount I was quoted. I'm not one to gripe, but this scenario I will definitely deal with.

They Dont Show Up, Once They Have Your Furniture -- Stay Away!

** Please stay away! Not worth the price. They don't take accountability for lack of communication with their scheduling and dispatch desk, which led to horrible service. It took me two weeks and three re-scheduled appointments due to no shows. They also continue to charge me for storage even though I got my items out. Shop around for better service and prices. **

REVIEW:
I used TDY Moving & Storage to move my items out of my 1 bedroom apartment near Columbia University in summer 2018 into their storage facility. The service charge was $780 one way ($195/hour for four hours one way from the apartment to the storage location -- this was their pricing that includes labor charges and the truck for loading materials). The service was good and punctual the first time around, BUT this was NOT the case when I scheduled a delivery back to another apartment near Columbia University.

- The first scheduled delivery NEVER made it. I had called in advance twice and confirmed over the phone for a Sunday delivery, but there seems to be no communication to the dispatcher about a delivery to be scheduled. I was at my new apartment waiting for furniture to arrive, only to find out that they would not show up and had to make alternate arrangements for my stay.

- After spending hours on the phone going through several people, they apologized and confirmed that the next available time slot was 5pm on a weekday, which I accepted. On the day of, I waited again and they showed only at 8pm. Apparently the delivery guy was given the wrong address! They dropped off the furniture but refused to assemble it even though it was part of the contract obligation that I had just paid another $780 for!

- Worse, one leg of the couch was missing and they also left some of their materials behind (tarps to cover sharp edges of furniture, metal bars to prevent boxes from folding in when stacked in storage)

- After several more hours on the phone, they agreed that the furniture had to be assembled as per contract, and rescheduled the job for the following week. And to no surprise, they NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN! The excuse I was given was everyone was too busy with existing jobs and cannot make it. Of course, now that I had paid everything the first time around, they were off the hook.

- Finally, they came the following week (delayed again by 3 hours from the scheduled time slot) and assembled the bed. Note, this was 2 weeks since the first delivery/assembly was meant to be done. I overall spent about $4000 for delivering to storage, storage for 1 year, and delivering back from storage to my apartment. I realized I would have been better off buying new furniture than dealing with the hassle. They did not even offer any compensation for multiple no shows and mishaps.

- STAY AWAY!
